Hello!
My name is Patrick Walter Gumela Enz. I am currently 21 years of age and will be studying game development at The Game Assembly in Malmö, Sweden.
I am of american and philippine descent. I've spent much of my years traveling throughout the world and discovering new cultures but now I have finally been able to find a nice place to settle down my adventure and that is here in Sweden.
A little bit about myself..
I have a great interest in games and how to develop and design games. I started sketching down simple level designs on paper back when I was 8 years old. I found it as a way to get my creative spirit out there. The levels I drew were then showed to my childhood friends and we all had quite some fun using our imaginations on how the sort of level would work out.
I have a high interest in designing things pretty much. Whether it be on paper or on computer programs it's still very fun getting my creativity out there.
A little info about my skills off paper..
The first level designing program I'v used was the level editor in a game called Warcraft III for the PC. Back then I felt like it was a really fascinating program and thought that it would be a good start to learning how to level design on the computer. I spent days on learning how to use it and eventually started making my own custom campaigns. All this happened back when I was living in the Philippines so the only people I could show it to were my school pals since internet never really works over there or rather it didn't work too well back then.
After some time my ambitions came to a pause and I eventually moved to Linköping, Sweden with my mother, sister, and step-dad. After the move I didn't work on anything that had to do with level design for a while but instead played newer games that I didn't have access to when I was still living in the Philippines. I moved to Sweden in 2009 and it came to me as quite a shock as to how graphics looked so realistic. Back in the Philippines I was only playing old favourites like Half Life and the old Final Fantasy games. So seeing all the new generation games with better graphics really blew my mind. After playing all these new games I felt more and more inclined to wanting to make my own game. Eventually I moved to Helsingborg (where I'm currently living today) and met a few game developing enthusiasts like myself. Then I was introduced to the Unreal Development Kit and the Source Development Kit. My creative side arose once again and I started learning both tools of the trade.
And now, here I am. Making maps and presenting my work not only to my friends but now to the internet.
